Private limited liability companies make up the vast majority of entities registered in Cyprus because this legal form enjoys, among other things, an inexpensive formation procedure, a consensus of a few shareholders, control over the membership and simplified records and reports.
The number of Cyprus private limited companies incorporated until 2007 was increasing dramatically and this is mainly due to the success of the Cypriot tax regime. After 2007 there was a slight reduction in registrations due to the financial crisis, but there is still a significant number of registrations. The table below illustrates the number of new company incorporations in recent years.
